With more than 20 years experience in the field, Mihaela Ungar joined The Rompetrol Group in July, as Group Director Marketing and Corporate Communication.
Mihaela Ungar has joined the company in a moment when The Rompetrol Group (TRG) strategy for the next five years aims at the development of the retail operations and of the international division of KazMunayGas – the national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan and the sole shareholder of The Rompetrol Group.
“Mihaela Ungar’s experience and expertise in FMCG (Fast-moving consumer goods) add to, and support the TRG’s intention to enter a new stage in its development, that of consolidation and extension of the retail operations in Romania and also in the Black Sea Region. The development of the fuel distribution network, a new image for the Rompetrol stations, and the correlation of our products and services to our customers’ needs will make it possible for us to become the most important supplier of live energy, the first option for customers who want quality” Zhanat Tussupbekov, the CEO of The Rompetrol Group, declared.
Mihaela Ungar started her career in 1992, at Colgate - Palmolive, as Product Manager Oral Care Romania, and was later appointed Marketing Manager for Romania and Moldova, Marketing Manager- Home Cleaning Products – for the Latin America Division, and Oral Care Professional Products Marketing Manager in the Philippines. Starting 2000, Mihaela Ungar held the position as Marketing Director for Romania and Moldova, and was responsible for the creation and implementation of the trading and marketing strategies for brands such as Colgate, Palmolive, Protex, Lady Speed Stick, Mennen, Ajax and Axion.
The new Group Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication Department of TRG contributed to the creation of the Romanian Advertising Council (RAC), the purpose of which is to develop a decent and honest business environment in Romania and to encourage the self-regulation of the advertising market. During Mihaela Ungar’s presidency, RAC became European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) member and signed The Protocol with the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) for the implementation of the advertising code of practice.
The Rompetrol Group has as sole shareholder the national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan – KazMunayGas, and operates in 12 countries, with most of its assets and operations concentrated in France, Romania, Spain and South-East Europe. TRG carries out both downstream and upstream operations, and provides oil services, EPCM, transport services etc. Its intention is to become one of the most important integrated oil companies in Europe, and in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea regions. In 2012, The Rompetrol Group’s turnover was USD 10.8 billion.
