The Rompetrol Group, by the retail divisions in Moldova and Bulgaria, has opened 12 new filling stations from the beginning of the year, increasing the network in the two countries to 114 supply points. By the end of the year. the company intends to open another 6 stations in these two countries.
Together with our sole shareholder - KazMunayGas (The national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan), we are ready to continue the development of the activities and operations of Rompetrol in the Black Sea region and Western Europe. In the next period, we will focus on expanding and strengthening the retail and trading activities, to support the link between the largest and modern refinery in Romania – Petromidia, and a regional market of 300 million people. Among the new stations, 11 are located in Chisinau and one in Burgas, consolidating the company's market share in these important areas by providing quality products from Petromidia refinery. Currently, Rompetrol Moldova covers most of the city Chisinau, which owns 34% of the total number of cars in Moldova, while Rompetrol Bulgaria has over 30% of the stations located on the Black Sea shore (4 of them are in Burgas).
Modernization works consisted in arranging visual elements to identify The Rompetrol Group, taking the station into Rompetrol administration, modernizing the equipment and alignment with the safety and environmental standards.
As a result of the network expansion, the amount of fuel sold on retail increased by 21,7% in Moldova, up to 23.000 tons, while in Bulgaria the increase in retail was of 5%, up to 37,500 tons. All fuels sold in the distribution network comply with the Euro 5 standard and are imported exclusively from Petromidia.
Besides the 47 franchise filling stations, the company also owns 4 own stations that sell only autogas (situated in northern Moldova), as well as storage capacities in Tirnova. These assets were included in the company’s portfolio in 2011, by taking over the MoldInterGaz company's activity, part of Rompetrol Gas. Following this acquisition, the company started selling of GPL in almost half of the operated stations.
Rompetrol Group currently operates over 1,100 supply points in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Georgia, France, Spain and Ukraine, following to develop operations in Turkey as well.
