Schoenherr Bucharest office has five new partners

Bucuresti - 22 ianuarie 2013 - Starting February 1st 2013, the Bucharest office of Schoenherr has five new partners:

Oana ALEXANDRU, specializing in real estate and Corporate/M&A and environmental law. She has been advising clients on various matters, ranging from drafting and negotiating sale purchase agreements, lease agreements, advising on corporate restructuring of the companies; assisting in registration of such changes with the competent authorities, assisting clients in relation with various claims of authorities, natural or legal persons, drafting and / or negotiating commercial agreements. Oana has been advising on numerous headline real estate transactions in Romania. She has also assisted on the sell side on several multijurisdictional transactions with an aggregate value of around EUR 200 million. Oana has been advising clients on environmental matters and environmental liability, drafting and negotiating clauses regarding environmental liability, allocation of risk and of historical, present and potential environmental liability, as well as assisting the firm litigation team in disputes regarding liability for historical pollution and decontamination.

Simona CHIRICĂ, specializing in civil, commercial and tax matters. She has a wide experience in real estate transactions, domestic mergers and acquisitions, green field projects, corporate, tax and operational and fiscal leasing matters. She has been advising on a number of headline transactions in Roman, particularly in real estate field, renewable energy sector and retail industry. Simona has been working together with the arbitration and litigation team in several domestic and international arbitration cases in construction field. Simona holds a PhD in legal sciences from the University of Bucharest and is a lecturer within Academy for Economic Studies Bucharest.

Monica COJOCARU, specializing in Corporate / M&A, energy, infrastructure and regulatory. She has been assisting Romanian and international clients in headline transactions in the energy field, offering legal advice both on Corporate/M&A and on specific regulatory issues. In the last years, Monica has gathered significant experience in renewable energy in Central and South Eastern Europe, and has been involved in numerous acquisitions of wind, photovoltaic, biomass, and hydro projects. Monica’s portfolio of clients includes international strategic investors in energy sector.

Mădălina NEAGU, specializing in Corporate/M&A practice. Since joining Schoenherr in 2008, she has been advising clients on a large number of projects involving takeovers (on both buy and sell side), corporate restructurings and dispute settlements. Mădălina's experience includes assisting on headline M&A transactions, competition, acquisition finance and privatization of State-owned companies (including advisory on the sell side in one of Romania’s largest privatization process in the banking system). Her client portfolio includes important Romanian and international companies.

Silvia Popa, specializing in real estate and construction law. Silvia has been acting for international and domestic clients in a wide variety of real estate development projects. She has been assisting clients in all stages of development of their projects, starting with the legal checks preceding the development, going through the drawing up and negotiation of agreements required for finalization of the projects and reaching the drawing up and negotiation of operation and maintenance agreements. Silvia’s experience includes the acquisition of greenfield and brownfield properties, the lease or purchase of office buildings, the construction of industrial facilities, performance of infrastructure works, the finalization of renewable energy parks (wind, solar and water energy) etc.

Thus, starting February 1st, Schoenherr Bucharest office will have 10 partners: Oana Alexandru, Simona Chirica, Monica Cojocaru, Matei Florea, Sebastian Gutiu (managing partner), Madalina Neagu, Narcisa Oprea, Markus Piuk and Mihai Radulescu. Partner Dan Costinescu is leaving the firm to pursue his own personal projects.
