BRASOV: PROBABLY THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD feature documentary is a smashing success in Havana

Havana, Cuba - 28 noiembrie 2012 - The feature documentary BRASOV: PROBABLY THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD, a Brasov Film Center production, - creator and director Maestro Bruno Pischiutta, executive producer Daria Trifu and creative consultant Iacob Nicolae Trif -, was screened at the Romanian Cinema Week Festival in Havana, Cuba.

The documentary was celebrated by the audience and the screening ended with many applause. The viewers, some of whom had been in Brasov before while others hadn't, wanted to go back or visit the city for the first time. They remarked the production quality, the music, composed by Andreea Tincea and executed by Laungerie II, and the comprehensive and very animated showcase of the life in Brasov: from the nightlife to the medieval roots of the city. One common message was resounding from the audience throughout the cinema following the screening: "I want to go there!"

The Cinema Week was organized by the Romanian Embassy in Havana in partnership with the Cuban Institute of Arts and Cinematography (ICAIC), the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana and the Ministry of Exterior Affairs of Romania. Mr. Pischiutta and Ms. Trifu were invited as the two guests of honor of the Festival by the Romanian Embassy. The First Romanian Cinema Week Festival took place at the renown Infanta Cinema, the only multiplex in Cuba.

The Festival commenced on Monday morning, November 19, with a press conference where Romanian Ambassador Dumitru Preda and Daria Trifu addressed the many members of the press in attendance and answered questions at the headquarters of the ICAIC. At the conference Ms. Trifu, who is also the President of Brasov Film Center and organizer of the annual Brasov International Film Festival & Market (BRIFF), has presented Luis Najmias Jr. with the Award Certificate and Trophy for 'Best Cinematography' won for the film LA EDAD DE LA PESETA at the 2012 edition of BRIFF this past summer. In attendance was also the director of the film, Pavel Giroud.

Ambassador Dr. Dumitru Preda is a renown Romanian historian, published author (50 books to date), university professor and cultural leader; his work in Cuba is highly regarded as the one that will help to expand cultural, economical and medical relations and collaborations between the two countries in the next years.

While in Havana, Daria Trifu carried bilateral discussions with local authorities and film executives in order to expand the operations of Global Film Studio to Cuba. Ms. Trifu had meetings with ICAIC's President - Omar Gonzalez Jimenez, Vice President of International Relations - Susana Molina Suarez, Director of International Relations - Rosa Maria Rovira and Specialist of International Relations - Patricia Gallego Garcia, in order to establish a groundbreaking partnership between Global Film Studio and the Cuban Institute that will welcome a program of film production and the International Film Workshops of Maestro Pischiutta to Cuba starting in 2013.

The conclusion of the bilateral discussion was a general agreement with the ICAIC: Global Film Studio Inc. has committed to produce a feature film in Cuba, to bring to Havana the International Film Workshops and to open a business branch in Cuba in 2013.

Ms. Trifu has also visited the beautiful campus of the International School of Film & TV where she was welcomed by Maria Julia Antuna, the International Relations Coordinator, who has expressed a special interest in screening some of the films produced at the school during the upcoming edition of BRIFF that takes place from August 1 to 11, 2013.

In her capacity as president of Brasov Film Center, owner and organizer of the Brasov International Film Festival & Market, Daria Trifu has welcomed the continuation of the partnership between BRIFF & ICAIC and she has welcomed more Cuban film submissions to the Festival and the attendance of film students from Cuba to the International Film Workshops in Brasov (August 1 - 11, 2013).

With this additional success of the documentary BRASOV: PROBABLY THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD in Cuba and the creation of important relations with the Cuban media, officials and film executives, Bruno Pischiutta and Daria Trifu prove once again that they are the most dedicated and efficient promoters of the city of Brasov, Romania.
