Bucharest - 21 iulie 2011
-
As of 20 July 2011, the Romanian electricity supply company S.C. Elcomex EN S.R.L. becomes S.C. Repower Furnizare România S.R.L. and adapts its external image to the corporate identity of the international group which was joined in June 2010, when the Swiss energy company Repower AG acquired a majority interest. The team and all contractual relationships remain the same, and customers will still be able to rely on the company’s expert advice and innovative energy solutions, benefiting also from the experience of the Repower group, achieved in 100 years of existence in the Swiss, Italian, German and East European markets.
Repower has a uniform appearance, operating under the same brand and logo in all markets. This will now also apply to S.C. Elcomex EN S.R.L., which from now on will do business as S.C. Repower Furnizare România S.R.L., adopting the Repower logo and operating in the marketplace under the Repower brand. The renaming process opens a new chapter in the company’s history, which now benefits from a new international dimension, new name, new image and style guide, new website and intranet, but also safety and stability provided by an international group.
The renaming does not affect customers and partners in any way, they will be served by the same dedicated people. S.C. Repower Furnizare România S.R.L. will still have stringent quality standards and endeavour to offer its customers innovative, tailor-made solutions.
Repower CEO Kurt Bobst is convinced that the group is on the right track with its efforts to develop its business in the Romanian market: “Romania is an interesting country that will play an important role in the European energy business in the future. For this reason we’re happy to be moving ahead with a team of motivated experts with a very good knowledge of this market.”
Adrian-Marius Rusu, CEO of S.C. Repower Furnizare România S.R.L., also said: “Repower is an ideal partner for us. They have opted to use our local know-how, and we’re delighted to be joining forces with a Swiss-based company and to pursue our goals together as part of the Repower Group.”
Repower operating in Romania since 2007
Repower, founded 100 years ago, is present in Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Romania, with the strategic goal of operating along the entire value chain in these key markets, from electricity generation to distribution, sales and trading. In Italy Repower is also involved in the gas business. In Switzerland, Italy and Germany the group operates hydropower plants, a gas-fired combined cycle plant, and four wind farms. Beyond this Repower is working on various promising generation projects. On the sales side, in Switzerland Repower also markets electricity to household customers; in Italy and Germany, the group — as in Romania — concentrates on the SME segment. In 2010 the Repower Group generated total operating revenues of around CHF 2.3 billion, equivalent to approximately RON 7.5 billion. It employs around 700 people. Repower has been present in Romania since back in 2007. It operates a trading base in Bucharest which collaborates closely with the group’s trading floors in Poschiavo (Switzerland), Milan (Italy) and Prague (Czech Republic). In line with its strategy, Repower also has plans to gradually build up its own generation capacity in Romania. These activities will all run under the umbrella of S.C. Repower Vânzări România S.R.L.
Elcomex EN with 15-year-long experience
S.C. Elcomex EN S.R.L., established in 1996, has supplied electricity since the liberalisation of the Romanian market in 2005, and managed to earn a solid reputation and an important portfolio of customers. In 2010, the owner of the Elcomex Group (founded 20 years ago in Romania) decided to sell a majority interest in its supply company S.C. Elcomex EN S.R.L. to the Swiss-based Repower Group. This allowed Elcomex to concentrate on its other business areas, and enabled Repower to take a decisive step forward with plans to further expand its operations in Romania. The takeover has also opened up new opportunities for Elcomex EN. In 2010 the Romanian supply company turned over approximately 1.25 terawatt hours of electricity to generate operating revenues of around RON 345 million, equivalent to approximately CHF 110 million. Currently, on the competitive market, the company share exceeds 5%. Repower took over the entire Elcomex EN team.
Note:
The changes described above affect only the former S.C. Elcomex EN S.R.L. All other companies of the Elcomex Group and their businesses will continue to operate under the existing ownership and are not part of the Repower Group, but will continue to collaborate with it.
