European law firm Schoenherr offers two talented law students from Central and Eastern Europe the unique opportunity to attend the Alpbach Summer School on European Integration. In the heart of the Austrian Alps, the Alpbach Summer School brings together international students from various disciplinary backgrounds for a study programme organised by the University of Vienna, including guest lectures from prominent participants of the Forum Alpbach.
Summer School for Students from Central and Eastern Europe
The Summer School, the only one of its kind in Austria, is run in parallel English and German language classes. It is designed to give students a basic understanding of the workings of the EC-EU, to equip them with the skills required to analyse socio-economic and legal issues of European integration and, more generally, to introduce them to a culture and practice of animated debate of contemporary problems facing European integration. The Summer School is recommended for students and young graduates of (commercial) law, business administration, economics and other social and political sciences.
European Integration in the Alps
The Alpbach Summer School on European Integration is organised in cooperation with the University of Innsbruck, Department of European Law and Public International Law (chair Prof. Hummer) and supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research.
The Scholarships
Schoenherr sponsors two full scholarships (including travel cost) for the Alpbach Summer School. The application procedure for a Schoenherr scholarship is open until 6 June 2010 for law students and young graduates from: Albania, Bulgaria; Bosnia-Herzegovina; Croatia; Czech Republic; Hungary; Moldova; Poland; Romania; Serbia; Slovakia; Slovenia and Ukraine.

European Forum Alpbach
The Summer School on European Integration takes place during the European Forum Alpbach, an annual interdisciplinary international conference. In the course of two weeks, more than 3,500 participants from over 60 countries come to the Austrian mountain village of Alpbach to discuss current political and economic issues in an informal, yet intellectually demanding atmosphere. It has been taking place every August since 1945. Speakers and participants form all parts of the world, from science, business and politics, renowned experts and students meet in Alpbach to discuss current questions in an interdisciplinary setting.
