Cargus: 30% growth in the first half of 2013

Bucharest - 02 septembrie 2013 - Domestic courier reaches a double digit increase in volumes in the first six months of the year thanks to new products and positive evolution of e-commerce in Romania.

Black Friday and the winter holiday season expected to bring a 50% increase in deliveries carried out by Cargus.

Cargus, one of Romania’s top domestic delivery companies, has achieved a 30% percent growth in volumes in the first six months of 2013 in comparison with the same period of 2012.

The positive evolution was partially achieved thanks to the further expansion of the e-commerce sector in Romania, providing Cargus with a 50% increase in business related to the online segment. New products, such as the EXPRESS BOX and EXPRESS DOX, which include free packaging for Cargus customers for deliveries of up to 10 kilograms, Monday deliveries of shipments picked up on Saturday & Sunday, have also been successfully introduced to the Romanian market.

Gian Sharp, Cargus CEO, explains that the company’s approach to the domestic delivery business is also a key factor for growth:

“We offer not just a domestic delivery service, but a full partnership with integrated IT, eComm and clients relationship management. The way most of our clients do business has changed and we are evolving accordingly.“

Looking to the second half of 2013, the company is expecting an important increase of volumes in November and December, with Black Friday becoming more popular in Romania with every year.

“Cargus has managed the best month in its history in December last year, but this winter is expected to provide even higher volumes. The busiest period of the year starts in November, with Black Friday, and continues through the winter holidays. We expect to see a growth of approximately 50% in comparison to 2012“, explains Gian Sharp, Cargus CEO.
