Schoenherr and FMI advise on the development of the Moldovan capital markets regulations

Bucharest - 22 februarie 2011 - Financial Markets International (FMI) and Schoenherr have been selected for the development of the Moldovan secondary normative framework under the draft law on capital markets.

FMI, the consortium leader, and Schoenherr will prepare regulations covering all major fields of capital markets, including securities offerings and disclosure, regulation and supervision of financial intermediaries, asset management and collective investment schemes, clearing and settlement. The project is financed by the World Bank from a Dutch technical assistance grant and is expected to last six months.

"The project is a very challenging one, and we are confident that we may bring added value during the project implementation due to our extensive Romanian capital markets experience and to the fact that there are many similarities between the formation of the Romanian capital markets and the Moldovan capital markets" commented Schoenherr partner Narcisa Oprea.

"Following the establishment of a single regulatory authority for non-bank financial institutions and the development of the new capital markets law, Moldova is seeking to up-grade its secondary legislation in the field of capital markets. We hope that together with our outstanding partners from FMI we will be able to deliver the highest quality work giving a new breath of life to the Moldovan capital markets," says Schoenherr associate Anna Cusnir.

Schoenherr team consists of capital markets partner Narcisa Oprea and associate Veronica Alexeev as well as Moldovan attorney Vladimir Iurkovski and associate Anna Cusnir.
