Chiuariu & Associates Attorneys at Law has launched its intellectual property counseling division and hopes the newly-launched service will bring 25% of the company's revenues in 2011.
The newly-established division offers technical, legal and strategic advice in all the fields of intellectual property: patents, utility models, trademarks, copyrights, as well as in intellectual property licensing and agreements.
The Intellectual Property division of the law firm Chiuariu & Associates is headed by Ileana Florea, who has amassed 10 years of experience in the area. Ileana Florea holds BAs in Medicine and Law and is currently following a postgraduate level training programme with the University of Manchester.
“Intellectual property rights are already an area of interest for Romanian entrepreneurs, who have started to protect these rights to a higher extent. Although the importance of protecting trademarks has been rapidly acknowledged, we have also seen an increasing interest towards obtaining the protection through patents for the technical solutions developed by companies within their research and development departments. Moreover, Romania is one of the top countries in terms of inventions awarded at the most recent international invention fairs,” said Ileana Florea.
Romania has recently won 27 medals and special prizes at the Moscow International Innovations and Inventions Fair, after receiving 58 medals and special prizes at the Geneva Fair.
On the other hand, the recent legislation changes which impacted the revenues received from the assignment of copyrights , having affected both authors and paying companies, have lead to an increase in the number of those who use specialized consultancy services in this area.
The development of online activities and the broader use of the Internet have also triggered a series of complex intellectual property issues which demand specialized consultancy.
Intellectual property consultancy services also include the protection of industrial designs, the registration of utility models and of domain names.
About Ileana Florea
Ileana Florea became an industrial property attorney in 2003 and a member of the Bucharest Bar Association in 2009. She has benefited from extensive trainings in European patent law organized by the European Patent Academy, the European Patent Institute and CEIPI and qualifies as an EPI tutor, authorized by the European
Patent Office to hold seminars for Romanian candidates preparing for the European Qualifying Examination.
Over more than ten years, Ileana has gained extensive experience in prosecuting patent applications and dealt with complex technical issues on patent infringement. Ileana also has expertise on trademarks, design and copyrights, with a special focus on Internet IP.
