În 2021, PwC România marchează 30 de ani de activitate pe piața locală, fiind prima mare companie de servicii profesionale înregistrată în România după 1989. ”PwC a pus bazele pieței de servicii de consultanță în urmă cu 30 de ani, fiind de la început alături de mediul de afaceri din România. În tot acest timp, a devenit o companie proeminentă pe piața românească, un brand puternic și un actor important în dezbaterea publică, realizări pentru care le suntem recunoscători tuturor colegilor, partenerilor și clienților noștri. În anii următori, vom continua să investim în formarea profesională, în dezvoltarea competențelor colegilor noștri și în adoptarea noilor tehnologii pentru a avea o contribuție cel puțin la fel de relevantă la dezvoltarea durabilă a societății și a economiei românești. Totodată vom rămâne un partener de dialog și de încredere al autorităților și instituțiilor locale și internaționale”, a spus Ionuț Simion, Country Managing Partner PwC România.
În 1991, Coopers & Lybrand, care a fuzionat la nivel global, șapte ani mai târziu, cu Price Waterhouse (PW) sub brandul PriceWaterhouseCoopers sau PwC, a deschis un birou în București, devenind prima mare companie de servicii profesionale cu prezență în România. PW s-a stabilit în România în 1993. Încă de la început, compania s-a implicat în proiecte fundamentale pentru economia românească și pentru mediul de afaceri local, contribuind la elaborarea legislației naționale în domeniile esențiale, la înființarea celor mai importante instituții și asociații profesionale și oferind consultanță și asistență companiilor, organizațiilor guvernamentale și internaționale.
”PwC s-a implicat de la început în crearea unui cadru legislativ modern și eficient fără de care nici companiile, nici instituțiile nu ar putea evolua pentru a crea un mediu favorabil creșterii economice”, a spus Daniel Anghel, Partener și Liderul serviciilor fiscale și juridice PwC România.
În cele trei decenii de activitate, PwC România a fost implicată în unele dintre cele mai mari proiecte de investiții din țara noastră, oferind totodată consultanță în tranzacții majore din sectoarele auto, retail, bancar, energie, farmaceutic sau produse industriale, asistând în total peste 600 de tranzacții (sell side/ buy side) și având peste 70 de mandate de asistență la exit.
”În cei 30 de ani de activitate, am fost alături de mii de companii din toate industriile, antreprenoriale sau multinaționale, care și-au dezvoltat și consolidat operațiunile din România sau s-au extins pe alte piețe. Le-am sprijinit folosind cele mai bune practici și cea mai înaltă expertiză, existente la nivel global”, a declarat Dinu Bumbăcea, Partener și Lider Consultanță în Afaceri PwC România.
PwC România a participat la primele audituri financiare realizate în România, după 1990, și a întocmit primele situații financiare conforme cu standardele internaționale IFRS, clădind încredere în mediul de afaceri local.

Contribuții majore ale PwC România la dezvoltarea mediului de afaceri:
● De la 16 angajați în 1991, PwC România a ajuns la o echipă de peste 800 de profesioniști în prezent, coordonată de 21 de Parteneri.
● Proiecte importante derulate de autoritățile române sau instituții internaționale au fost sprijinite de consultanții PwC.
● PwC România a realizat prima clasificare a societăţilor comerciale din România pentru autorităţile române, primele audituri ale marilor societăți și a contribuit la implementarea pe plan local a standardelor internaționale de raportare financiară IFRS, întocmind primele situații financiare conforme cu acestea.
● Constant, PwC a contribuit la elaborarea celor mai importante legi cu impact în activitatea companiilor, cum ar fi prima lege a insolvenței, introducerea TVA, transpunerea directivelor europene, regulamentul vamal comunitar sau primul Cod Fiscal din România.
● Încă de la înfiinţare, PwC a avut un rol major în crearea şi dezvoltarea unor profesii liberale în România, în constituirea şi conducerea organismelor profesionale asociate, reprezentanții PwC fiind aleşi în conducerea acestora: AmCham România, Uniunea Naţională a Practicienilor în Insolvenţă din România (UNPIR), Camera Auditorilor Financiari din România (CAFR), Asociația Națională a Evaluatorilor Autorizați din România (ANEVAR), Camera Consultanţilor Fiscali (CCF), The Association of Business Service Leaders in Romania (ABSL), Consiliul Investitorilor străini și Coaliția pentru Dezvoltarea României.

PwC, the first consulting firm to open a local office, celebrates 30 years in Romania
This year marks 30 years of PwC Romania activity on the local market. As the first large professional services company to register in Romania after 1989. “PwC laid the foundations of the consulting services market 30 years ago, so we’ve been with the Romanian business environment from the very beginning. Over those three decades we’ve become a prominent professional services company on the Romanian market, a strong brand and an important contributor to public debate, thanks to all of our colleagues, partners and clients. In the coming years, we will continue to invest in training, in developing the skills of our colleagues and in adopting new technologies in order to have at least an equally relevant contribution to the sustainable development of Romanian society and the economy. We will also remain a reliable dialogue partner for local and international authorities and institutions”, said Ionut Simion, Country Managing Partner, PwC Romania.
In 1991, Coopers & Lybrand opened an office in Bucharest to become the first large professional services company to have a presence in Romania. The company later merged globally with Price Waterhouse under the PriceWaterhouseCoopers, or PwC, brand. PW settled in Romania in 1993.
From the beginning, our company has been involved in projects which are fundamental for the Romanian economy and the local business environment. We’ve contributed to the development of national legislation in essential fields, supported the establishment of the most important professional institutions and associations, and provided consultancy and assistance to companies and other organisations, both governmental and international.

PwC Romania participated in the first financial audits conducted in Romania after 1990 and prepared the first financial statements in accordance with international IFRS standards, thus building confidence in the local business environment.

PwC Romania’s major contributions to the business environment development:
● From 16 employees in 1991, PwC Romania has reached a team of over 800 professionals today, coordinated by 21 Partners.
● Important projects carried out by the Romanian authorities or international institutions were supported by PwC consultants.
● PwC Romania conducted the first classification of Romanian companies under a project for the Romanian authorities, the first audits of large companies and contributed to the local implementation of international IFRS financial reporting standards, including preparing the first financial statements in accordance with them.
● PwC has contributed to the development of the most important laws with an impact on company activities, such as the first insolvency law, the VAT introduction, the transposition of European directives, the community customs regulation and the first Romanian Tax Code.
● Since its establishment, PwC Romania has had a major role in the creation and development of liberal professions in Romania, and in the establishment and management of associated professional bodies, with PwC representatives being elected to their leadership: AmCham Romania, Romanian National Union of Insolvency Practitioners (UNPIR), Romanian Chamber of Financial Auditors (CAFR), ANEVAR, Chamber of Fiscal Consultants (CCF), ABSL, Council of Foreign Investors and The Coalition for the Development of Romania.
