ERA Shopping Park Iasi – the gate to Moldavia for the French retailer Decathlon

Bucharest - 12 mai 2010 - ERA Shopping Park Iasi, the largest retail park developed outside Bucharest, will soon have a new 4,100 sq m Decathlon Sports store and a zone dedicated for sports practice, 2,000 sq m: fitness and multisport indoor hall; outdoor tennis and football courts, badminton and tennis table. We will propose 50 sports, and offer products for beginner to performer. Decathlon has recently purchased a 2.2 hectares plot of land within ERA Shopping Park Iasi. The company will open a new store by the end of this year.

The Decathlon store in ERA Shopping Park Iasi will offer to its costumers` large spaces where people can try on everything from a pair of shorts to a pair of rollerblades, bicycles or even bows with arrows. At Decathlon you will find famous brands like: Nike, Reebok, Adidas, but most of all Decathlon’s own brands. In order to meet our costumers` needs of information and specialized advice the Decathlon store in ERA Shopping Park Iasi will hire a young team that will be very well trained. All of Decathlon’s employees are sport practicants.

The Decathlon Company was founded by Michel Leclercq, who opened in 1976 the first store with self-service specialized in the selling of sport articles, near the town of Lille, situated in the north of France. The company has now developed divisions for research and design, production, logistics and retail.

ERA Shopping Park Iasi, the biggest shopping park outside Bucharest, has been opened for two years. Today are fully operational: ERA Shopping Galleries (11,000 sq m, 62 stores), Carrefour hypermarket (15,400 sq m), Praktiker DIY store (9,350 sq m), Mobexpert furniture store (8,500 sq m), and Altex Megastore (3,565 sq m). ERA Shopping Park will benefit from a EUR 175 million investment on a built area of over 150,000 sq m, a rentable area of 116,000 sq m and 3,600 parking lots.
