In 2013, EBAN celebrated the first European Business Angels Week, concentrating 141 events all across Europe, reflecting an active and growing business angel’s community.
EBAN’s initiative was recognized and supported by Neelie Kroes, European Commissioner for Digital Agenda Daniel Calleja, and Director-General for Enterprise & Industry and Dusan Stojanovic, Business Angel of the Year 2013. José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, inaugurated EBAW on behalf of the European Commission as an initiative for a more innovative and sustainable Europe.
In the following year of 2014, featuring 244 events, EBAN has carried out the 2014 edition in cooperation with MBAN (Middle East Business Angel Network) and ABAN (African Business Angel Network). The focus of Business Angel Week 2014 in particular involved celebrating and creating “Success Stories” and inspiring “Cross-Border and Cross-Continent Business Angel Investment and Exits”.
Business Angels Week continues to grow in 2016, reaching a record of 260 events focused on angel investment.
Business Angels Week is the world’s largest cross-border angel investment awareness campaign featuring Business Angels and Entrepreneurs from Europe, the Middle East (MBAN) and Africa (ABAN). Business Angels Week not only addresses the entrepreneurs, but also has a completely different approach by adding the investor flavor, opening the doors for matchmaking between entrepreneurs and investors by raising awareness of the early stage market.
Successful entrepreneurs are those people who believe in an idea and know how to make those around join them and develop it together. Success comes where people cooperate to form a solid team and where the ultimate goal is the same for all. Real investors know this and are always on the lookout for successful teams to join and together create brands or revolutionize the world.
In November, at Iasi, Business Angels Romania will seek successful teams in order to write history. These Business Angels, investors who are aware that for a business to succeed not only money are important, will come from all over the world curious to witness Romanian creativity. Romanian investors already know that here there is a lot of intellectual potential that deserves to be supported and helped to crystallize.
In 2016, the conference will take place in Iasi, where the first Romanian Nobel Prize Winner, Emil Palade, was born. The event in Iasi will be honor by the presence of the president of the European.
CONFERENCE’S BUSINESS ANGELS ROMANIA OBJECTIVES ARE:
1. Getting at least 150 foreign specialists in the business angels domain face to face with investors and entrepreneurs from the Romanian business environment;
2. Presenting the advantages of using angel investment;
3. Promoting the potential of the Romanian IT&C domain through relevant ambassadors in the field;
4. Presenting the legislation regarding the business angel’s investments and business incubators in the European context;
5. Presenting successful investment stories;
6. Displaying the international project funded by the European Commission – ESIL;
7. Presentation of the EBAN impact on an international level and the BUSINESS ANGELS ROMANIA purpose on the investments environment;
8. The purpose of the AeRO market – a market segmentation dedicated to listing start-up companies as an alternative to the stock market, the platform is managed by the Bucharest Stock Exchange for business development;
9. Conversion of local and regional businesses into global affairs with the contribution of investors from international Business Angels networks.
