We hereby provide the following clarifications in reference to the National Anticorruption Directorate's Communiqué No. 1938/VIII/3 of 10 December 2015, having as well in view the debates emerging in the media regarding the facts and persons referred in this Communiqué:
On 9 December 2015, officers of the National Anticorruption Directorate came at the offices of Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații and requested to be provided with certain documents and information regarding the activities of a client to which our firm had provided legal assistance, mostly documents dating from 2006-2007.
We have promptly provided the requested information and documents to the investigation officers. No other documents and information referring to any other clients of Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații have been subject to this investigation, or affected by it, and the confidentiality owed these materials is fully secured.
We underline that Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații is not itself within the scope of this investigation.
It was during this investigation that we learned with dismay of the accusations brought against our colleague Robert Roșu, accusations which refer exclusively to professional services he rendered as a lawyer, and which cannot, as such, under the law, be a source of criminal liability. Robert Roșu is a remarkable lawyer with an irreproachable professional record. Our colleague provided legal services in full compliance with Law No. 51/1995 governing the legal profession. We will cooperate fully with the authorities so as the situation is be clarified as soon as possible.
Our law firm has always supported, and is fully supporting now the anticorruption efforts of the State authorities, including by implementing related internal policies.
